Early records of this ancient breed show how they were used to pull the plough for the peasant farmers during the middle ages and went on to become the pride of England's herd during the late eighteen century. Their colour varies from dark brindle right through to pale roan and it was not just for it's meat that this majestic breed was prized; as this distinctive longhorns were used to make buttons and cutlery handles, and the tallow was a useful alternative to oil. |
